Yes, teens should learn to be independent, but unnecessary heartbreak
that comes with starting relationships at too young an age should be avoided.
When the time is right, by all means date as many people as
you want, but teens under the age of 18 should wait to date. Here’s why...
-- Your teen years
are for getting to know yourself –
During your teen years, YOU are the most important person you
could ever date. When you are young, it is so easy to become obsessed with finding
someone cool to date that you forget all about getting to know yourself. If you
don’t take the time to get to know yourself during your teen years, you will
not be able to recognize the right person to date in the future.
-- You will open your
heart up to pain and sadness –
Teens are not emotionally and physically ready to handle
proper relationships. It’s true that a lot of teens are much more mature than others;
however the teen years are when the brain goes through the most change. With so
much going on like peer pressure, hormones and school work, most teen
relationships will end in tears.
-- The most important
relationships happen after school –
People who marry their high school sweetheart barely happen
these days. You may know someone who met in high school and married, like your
grandparents, but in this day and age it is very rare. Less and less people get
married if they meet someone in high school and even the people who do end up
divorcing later on in life. Teen relationships are often seen as harmless, but
they can ruin a young person’s life in the long run, so it’s best to wait until
after school.
-- Your teen years are meant to be enjoyed –
At this time in life teens are meant to enjoy the single
life, it may seem old-fashioned, but it is true. Back in the day teens would
get married at the tender age of 15 and be pregnant by 16! This makes teens believe
they are only meant to be looking for love, when in fact they should spend
their time loving themselves!
Don’t wish your teen years away, use this time to create
friendships and strengthen family bonds. This doesn't mean giving up on love, it simply means enjoying life in the moment!
