10 Signs of Anxiety in Children


Have you noticed any changes in your child’s behaviour? There are certain signs that you need to look out for that may indicate that your child is feeling stressed or anxious.

When it comes to children who are quite young, they may be too juvenile to recognize their own anxiety and figure out what is causing their issues. These feelings of anxiety can cause a variety signs in their physical, emotional and mental behavioural.

Here are some common signs of stress and anxiety to look out for…

1. Stomach pains or headaches

2. Increase or decrease in appetite

3. Problems sleeping or regular nightmares

4. Wetting the bed

5. Finding it hard to concentrate

6. Moodiness, short temper and excessive clinginess

7. Developing a nervous habit, like nail biting

8. Withdrawing from friends and family

9. Detesting school and refusing to go

10. Getting into trouble at school

Look out for these common signs of anxiety and excessive stress, especially before or after activities that may cause them. Should you notice physical symptoms such as fever, rash or diarrhoea, then it could be a medical problem and you should speak to your doctor immediately.
