As an adult you may find it hard to try and
figure out what is considered “cool” for a teenager. If it’s that time of the
year to start planning your older child’s birthday party, either get them
involved in the theme and planning or take a look through these five party
ideas that your teen will actually enjoy…
Glow
/ Lumo Party
Glow-in-the-dark stuff is fun for teens and
just about everyone else too! Glow sticks and other glow-in-the-dark
merchandise has a way of setting the mood and really creating a fun party, plus
glow sticks are cheap and can be bought in bulk!
Things like glow in the dark paint can be
used to decorate the party venue and clothing as well as glow sticks which can
be stuck inside balloons to make them glow.
But, what about party games?
Keep the teenagers busy by playing a few
fun glow-in-the-dark games…

Instagram
Party
Majority of teens now days have their eyes
glued to their smartphone screen – posting and scrolling through Snapchat,
Facebook or Instagram. Instagram is one of the most popular social media apps,
so it would make a great theme for a teen party.
There are some awesome ways to bring this
theme to life like ready-made Instagram items that you can buy online or DIY
projects you can make yourself. Some of my favourites are a homemade Instagram
cake, sugar cookies, party boxes, etc.
For the best Instagram selfie experience,
set up your own photo booth with fun hashtag props that the teens can use when
they take memorable photos together. Later the teens can enjoy posting their
pictures together on Instagram.
Shopping Mall Party
Hanging out at the mall has kind of died
out for teenagers these days, but that is why it’ll be a unique party experience.
A mall scavenger hunt is an easy, fun party to plan because there are so many
things that can be found and you won’t have to go out of your way to find them!
Divide the teens into groups, give them a
bag with a list of items to collect and set them on their way. There are many
different mall scavenger hunts you can plan; some require taking photos and
buying things, while others are totally free of charge.

DIY
Beauty Sleepover
This party idea is obviously aimed at
female teenagers. The internet is full of DIY skincare and beauty videos – many
of them are really simple to make too! Let your teen and her friends watch a
few videos and get some fun ideas and then allow them to create their own
beauty supplies.
Once you have the instructions, tools and
supplies, turn on some music and let the girls bond over some good old
crafting!
Here are some great DIY beauty supplies:
Movie
Night Party
This kind of party works for everyone –
boys and girls. So either go with a classic old school Hollywood theme, or let
your teen choose the movie genre everyone will be watching.
There are some fun and creative ways to
customize a movie party, from a Hollywood cake to fancy party invites that look
like movie tickets. You can even learn how to set up an outdoor movie theatre if
you have the space available, all you’ll need is a large surface to screen the
movie and a projector – you can even do it with your smartphone.
Have fun, dress up and don’t forget the
popcorn!
You’re probably a busy parent and you don’t
have time to spend your entire day researching teen party ideas – choose from
one of these fun party themes and your teenager is guaranteed to have a great
time!
