While making friends may come naturally to some kids, for others it might be a bit of a challenge.
Here’s how you can help your child with social interactions and friendships…

> Make sure you talk to your children openly about friendships and how they work

> Get to know your child’s peers or friends as well as their families

> Joining a club, class, church or sport can help you child develop a sense of belonging

> Chat with other parents you meet at school, sports practice and club meetings

> Encourage and be willing to host play dates at your home

> Your child needs to know what is expected of them when they go over to a friend’s house

> Speak with the parents before your child goes over to someone’s home

> Always have open communication with your child about social relationships , this will in turn help them develop confidence

Friendships help define personality and independence and teach your children to deal with their own feelings as well as those of others.
