The most common types of headaches that teens get are:

Tension-type headaches – These often feel like a tight squeezing around your head. The pain can usually be felt on both sides of your head and is dull and achy.

Migraines – These are horrible and can cause extreme pain. The effects of the migraine can last up to 2 days and it’ll feel like the inside of your head is throbbing. A migraine is usually only felt on the one side of your head, and it brings with a sense of dizziness and can even cause vomiting and an upset tummy.

If your headaches are starting to worry you, maybe it is time to see your doctor. This is a especially good idea if it is starting to interfere with your school work and social life.

Call your doctor if you experience any of the following:

Head Injury – If you’re getting headaches after a head injury, you should get it checked out right away.

Seizures / Convulsions – When a headache is occurring with seizures or fainting; get to the doctor immediately.

Frequent Headaches – If you are experiencing headaches more than once a week.

Severe Pain – If the pain from the headache stops you from going to school or taking part in activities.

Headaches at Night – Headaches that are bad enough to wake you up from your sleep require immediate attention.

Eye problems – If the headache causes your eyes to become blurry or you start to see spots.

Don’t ignore a headache if the pain changes from dull to throbbing, it could be serious and your doctor should be contacted immediately.
